For ITEC 7430, we must create a wiki. Please add your wiki links below!
Post your name and wiki here. Please feel free to give a line or two about how you would use this wiki in your class. ~Dr. Vega Angela Medley's Wiki This is a wiki that I am developing to use in a course that I am starting to teach in the summer with the GaVS. It will serve as a collaboration tool for students in my Biology class t o post notes, definitions of key terms, other resources, and project work.
Wayne Cordy''s Wiki This is a Social Studies wiki. My plan is for my students to create a wiki that can be used as a reference tool for our study of the Native Americans of Georgia (Creeks and Cherokee). We will add information to our wiki as we complete our research on these tribes. Groups will be assigned to provide information based on their cultural topic.
Lauren Kinsella's WikiThis is a Language Arts wiki. My plan is to have students submit their essays and then do peer revision. I would also like to somehow incorporate reading into this wiki.
Sam Colson's Wiki This is a multiplication wiki. The students can add pictures or charts that show arrays or equal groups. I'm planning on using this tomorrow to get them to create arrays in groups so I can take pictures of their creations and then display them on the wiki.
Jamie Nicholson's Wiki I decided that since I teach Kindergarten that a wiki would most benefit my parents. I am creating a resource website for parents to come to for additional help with their child's academics. Parents will also be able to post links to resources that they have found helpful. This is a need in my classroom because many of my parents are Hispanic and have difficulty helping their "English Learner" child.
Amy Ghavamian's WikiSince I will be working with a first grade class, I decided to create an activity that covers a measuring unit they just completed. The students will practice using a ruler to measure random objects for 1 inch through 12 inches. The students will take a picture of what they measure and post it to the correct tab on the site.
Mary Beth Jager's Wiki I teach Marketing Principles. I will use this wiki to post assignments throughout the year. The first assignment of the school year will be about the "Marketing Mix," which is also known as the 4 P's. The curriculum of the entire class is centered around this topic.
Johnny Tilton's Wiki We are soon going to be starting our Civil War unit in US History. I am hoping that I can use my wiki to be able to engage the students and make this unit be be the best that it can be. They will be given key people, events, and places of the war and I will have them use the wiki as a meeting place to share their findings.
Tyler Henry's Wiki I chose to convert a common social studies project into a Wiki site. I believe this will give my 6th graders a chance to learn about/create Wikis and incorporate them into their own learning.
Jessica Tamburro's Wiki Our next unit of study is Astronomy. I actually have students create what I call a "Monster Foldable" Where they create a large foldable that stores smaller foldables of information throughout the unit. I do that as an in-class, ongoing project throughout the unit. However, I believe this wiki space would be great for the students to follow up on their work and create great information they find while at home and post it to the wikispace.
Jason Dasinger's Wiki I am going to create a wiki for my students to use during their AP review. Right now it is just a shell, but I am looking forward to seeing how we can use this ultimate collaboration tool! Each unit will have its own page and I will include a forum for any questions or comments from my students.
Heath Green's Wiki My wiki will be similar to Jason's. I am using it as a review guide for the AP Exam. I am planning on dividing the students into groups that go across class periods so that students have to collaborate with students in other periods. The groups will be responsible for managing their pages and creating an initial review guide that other students can modify after the page has been completed by the original group.
Donna Halverson's Wiki My wiki will allow my Literacy Applications (or Reading) students to analyze our class novel study of Holes by Louis Sachar. My plan is for them to create and edit character logs, chapter summaries, non-fiction parallel reading projects and debate the pros and cons of the novel vs the movie. George Anderson's Wiki This wiki is intended to help my Art students compile and explain some of the art terminologies that the students come across in their research and practices.
Mi Kyong Kormos's Wiki My wiki is a place where students will post their artwork with their self-assessment, which works as an electronic portfolio.
Amy Zurawski's Wiki My wiki is a place where parents can view what their student (s) are doing in my class. I am going to try and update it regularly. This will allow the students to show their parents what they have been doing in computer.
